The Dr. Brewer that Margaret and Casey mistake for their father in the series classic,
Stay Out of the Basement, is, in short, a psychopath. Their father was experimenting with plant DNA, trying to electronically
create a new plant using DNA from various other plants, but his hand was cut on a slide. After his blood was mixed with the
plant molecules, his psychopathic clone was born, stuffed him in the basement closet, and then lived his life, causing Margaret
and Casey to notice many changes in the way their father behaved.
Because he is a human/plant hybrid, the Dr. Brewer clone had various problems, and he
had to eat plant food, had green blood, and had leaves growing out of his head, all on which occasions Margaret caught him.
In the end, Dr. Brewer was destroyed, sliced in two with a heavy axe by the real Dr. Brewer. In the television adaption, the
clone was killed when Margaret and Casey sprayed him with weed killer.
